Stuart Bonner crowned 2017 Shop Idol
Winner announcement took place at the Mobile Industry Awards
Stuart Bonner from Carphone Warehouse in Glasgow has beaten competitors from every major UK retailer to be crowned Shop Idol 2017.
The Alcatel sponsored annual competition, now in its 13th year takes place over six months and features mystery shops, votes, live challenges, tests and interviews to find the ultimate mobile sales person.
The winner announcement took place at the Mobile Industry Awards at The Brewery in London on 1st June, and it really was the highlight of the evening. It was safe to say that this was the award that got the most cheers from the 450 guests in the room.
The Shop Idol runners up also recognised on the evening were Joshua Higgins from Carphone Warehouse Kettering and Rosie Cowan from O2 Blythe, as well as Gavin Mooney from O2 Penrith, Hamish Paterson from Tesco Mobile Aberdeen and Greg James from O2 Bluewater.
Competition judge and Future’s Phones, Wearables & Tablets Editor Gareth Beavis described why Stuart is Shop Idol 2017:
“The standard this year was honestly incredibly high, and we judges had the unenviable task of choosing the winner. The final six all deserved the title for one reason or another, and picking from our final three was an even bigger task - the deliberation to choose the winner went around and around, but Stuart Bonner squeaked ahead due to his unique mix of product knowledge, professionalism and passion for the job. As a runner up last year it was satisfying to see him come back for another go this year... we're certainly hoping to see the finalists come and do the same next year!”
