OnePlus 5T to go on sale on November 21st
Rumoured to ship with a larger curved screen and upgraded specs despite retailing for the same price as its predecessor.
Even before its first so-called ‘flagship killer,’ the OnePlus One launched on April 25th, 2014, OnePlus has always operated a bit differently than other mobile device manufacturers and tried to stay true to the motto emblazoned on the stock wallpaper of each device it sells: “Never Settle.”
The company is now gearing up to reveal its seventh smartphone rumoured to be called the OnePlus 5T at a launch party in New York City on November 16th. OnePlus has even offered its fans the chance to attend by buying a ticket for $40. However, at this time, they are sold out which is likely a result of the hype surrounding the new device.
Throughout its various iterations, OnePlus has slightly increased the price of its smartphones as their specs have continued to come closer to devices like Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and LG’s V30.
The company’s latest device, the OnePlus 5, which is exclusive to O2 in the UK, currently retails for £465.99 for the 64GB version and £513.99 for the 128GB variant but the new 5T is rumoured to have a curved screen and larger battery which should prompt a price increase.
However, confidential documentation acquired by TechRadar has revealed that the price in the UK is set to stay the same for the upcoming device on O2 as well as the exclusivity deal between the company and the retailer.
The One Plus 5 was highly praised and well received globally and I wonder if O2 and its employees are excited to be the only carrier offering the next version of the OnePlus’s ‘flagship killer.’ Will the added screen real estate really make a difference in winning over consumers who are on the fence or putting off their next upgrade?
We’ll find out the rest of the details surrounding the OnePlus 5T at next week’s event in NYC and OnePlus has already confirmed that it will go on sale starting from November 21st.
